Let's face it, ladies: Doctor visits are short. And they're getting shorter. What if your doctor had more time? Here are some points which are wants you to know.

Consider these tips your prescription for a lifetime of wellness.

1. Zap your stress.
"The biggest issue I see in most of my patients is that they have too much on their plates and want to juggle it all. Stress can have significant health consequences, from infertility to higher risks of depression, anxiety, and heart disease. Find the stress-reduction method that works for you and stick with it."

2. Stop dieting.
"Eating healthy doesn't mean you have to forgo your favorite glass of wine or a piece of chocolate cake now and then. The key is moderation. Get a mix of lean proteins, healthy fats, smart carbs, and fiber."

3. Don't “OD” on calcium.
"Too much absorbed calcium can increase the risk of kidney stones and may even increase the risk of heart disease. If you're under 50, shoot for 1,000 milligrams per day, while over-50 women should be getting 1,200 milligrams per day mainly through diet -- about three servings of calcium-rich foods such as milk, salmon, and almonds."

4. Do more than cardio.
"Women need a mix of cardio and resistance or weight-bearing exercise at least three to five times a week to help prevent osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Exercise also promotes good self-image, which is really important to a woman's mental health."

5. Think about fertility.
"While many women have no problem getting pregnant in their late 30s and even into their early 40s, a woman's fertility may start to decline as early as 32. So if you want to have kids, talk to your doctor about options, like freezing your eggs."

6. Appreciate birth control.
"Birth control gets a bad rap, but not only can it keep you from getting pregnant before you're ready, studies show it can lower the risk of uterine and ovarian cancer as well as regulate your cycle."

7. See your doctor every year.
Make sure you get a Pap test to check for cervical cancer every 3 years if you are 21 or older. If you are 30-65, you can get both a Pap test and HPV test every 5 years. Older than that, you may be able to stop testing if your doctor says you are low risk. If you are sexually active and have a higher risk for STDs, get tests for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis yearly. Take an HIV test at least once, more frequently if you’re at risk. Don't skip your yearly checkup. Your doctor needs to annually assess many other issues such as potential infection, your need for contraception, and sexual complaints."

8. Have good sex.
"Sex reduces stress and may lower the risk of chronic disease -- but only if you enjoy it. If anything prevents you from sexual fulfillment, such as dryness or pain, talk to your doctor to find a solution."

9. Get more sleep.
"Sleep needs differ, but if you have trouble getting out of bed, tire easily, or have trouble concentrating, you likely aren't getting enough. Recent studies suggest this can put you at greater risk of heart disease and psychological problems."

10. Consider genetic testing.
"Doctors can now screen people with a family history of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and chronic diseases to assess their risk -- and then consider preventive measures. Talk to your doctor."

Though clinical studies relate that food and acne do not have a significant correlation, more and more dermatologists are beginning to recognize that the cleaner diet you have, the clearer your skin will be. Along with drinking plenty of water, diets high in fruits and vegetables provide your body with the vitamins that are crucial in the development of an acne-free face. On the other hand, foods high in fat and sugar can mess with your complexion. Cut the following items out of your diet to keep zits at bay.

1. Sugar
White sugar has inflammatory properties that can aggravate your skin. “In terms of food, things high in glycemic load [foods that raise blood sugar quickly] trigger acne more than anything else,” says Marina Peredo, M.D., a dermatologist in Long Island, NY.

2. Dairy
Hormones that are found in dairy products can stimulate the sebum glands in your face, making them produce more oil and clog your pores. Many people find that when they cut dairy from their diets their skin clears up dramatically.

3. Fast food
The “McDonald’s face” that occurs when people work at fast food restaurants doesn’t have to do with grease; it has to do with eating processed foods made from white flour and potatoes. The key to great skin is avoiding as many processed foods as possible.

4. Peanut butter
Peanut butter that contains hydrogenated oil and added sugar may cause inflammation and fuel breakouts.

5. Whey protein
“When a guy is breaking out, I always ask him what supplements he’s taking and if he’s trying to bulk up,” says Peredo. “Whey protein can cause acne.” If you’re breaking out from whey and need an alternative, try egg-white or hemp protein powder instead.

6. Spicy food
Spicy food triggers sweat glands, which can make your face oily and further aggravate the skin. The way to prevent a breakout when you eat spicy food could be to wash your face immediately after.

While no foods have been proven to cause pimples directly, there are foods that make you break out.

“Does chocolate give you pimples?” is a common question and recent studies suggest that it’s the sugar, not the cocoa, in chocolate that’s to blame for break outs.

Sugary and processed foods with a high glycaemic load set off a chain-reaction that might be responsible for an acne breakout. These foods include:

Fried chips, crackers, and cookies
White bread and pasta
Soft drinks and juices
Can some foods causes pimples
When you eat these foods, your blood sugar, and in turn your insulin levels, spike.

Insulin causes your sebaceous glands to produce more oil. This often contributes to clogged pores and pimples.

HOW TO AVOID FOODS THAT GIVE YOU PIMPLES
Your diet has a strong influence on the health of your skin.

Follow our six simple tips to help you avoid foods that make you break out:

1. CROWD YOUR PLATE WITH FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
These foods are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Fill up of these foods to make less room for foods that make you break out.

2. FLUSH OUT TOXINS
Reduce sugary cravings by drinking plenty of water or unsweetened tea.

Stir two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink after a rich meal if you need balance your blood sugar levels.

3. MORE NATURAL VITAMIN A
Keep spinach, carrots, kale, papaya, cantaloupe and sweet potatoes on your menu.

Vitamin A reduces sebum and helps skin cells regenerate.

4. EAT DARK CHOCOLATE
That’s right – snacking on dark chocolate is a great antioxidant boost.

Cocoa contains antioxidants, which can help to fight free radicals in your skin.

5. LOAD UP ON NATURAL VITAMIN C
Citrus fruits, broccoli and bean sprouts are high in vitamin C and should be on your plate.

Vitamin C helps your skin produce collagen for a fresh complexion

6. FILL UP ON OMEGA-3 AND OMEGA-6
Think salmon, avocados, nuts and olive oil.

These unsaturated fatty acids help keep your skin supple.

The food you eat is critical for your overall wellbeing as a number of cancers that affect the human body are of gastrointestinal origin. Stick to organic and chemical free foods to live a healthier life since they reduce the risk of cancer substantially. Regular consumption of the food items mentioned below increase your risk of developing cancer as well as many other conditions and should be avoided at all costs.

1. Microwave Popcorn - Most microwave-popcorn bags are lined with c8, also known as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) which increases the risk of certain cancers such as kidney, testicular, bladder, pancreas and liver cancer notably. Microwave popcorn also contains an artificial or synthetic butter flavoring called diacetyl which is extremely toxic and obstructs breathing.

2. Canned Tomatoes - While tomatoes are considered to be cancer fighting foods, their canned counterparts are extremely unhealthy and may cause cancer. This is mainly due to the lining of the cans they are put in which contains a chemical known as bisphenol-A or BPA that has been proven to elevate the risk of infertility as well as prostate and breast cancer. Due to their (tomatoes) high acidity, BPA leaks from the lining of the cans and penetrates into the fruit. Tomatoes should be cooked fresh or stored in glass jars.

3. Processed/Grilled Red Meat - Processed meats such as sausages, prosciutto, bacon, pimento loaf, bologna, hot dogs etc., contain various chemicals and preservatives such as sodium nitrate. This is added to make the meat look fresh and appealing but are, in fact, carcinogenic in nature. Moreover, you should also avoid grilling meat since it releases a carcinogen known as heterocyclic aromatic amines. Another dangerous food item includes smoked meat since it picks up tar from the smoking process.

4. Farmed Salmon - It is imperative to avoid farmed salmon because they are fed unnatural diets that are contaminated with carcinogens, antibiotics, chemicals, pesticides and so on. They also harbor sea lice, 30 times greater in amount than wild salmon. High levels of PCBs, cancer causing dioxins, and mercury have been found in them. It is advisable to opt for wild sockeye salmon instead of farmed salmon

The name 'fast food' comes from the fact that it can be prepared and served in a jiffy and not to mention, tastes delicious. Fast food is easily prepared processed food served in snack bars and restaurants as a quick meal or to be taken away. Don't be fooled by the smell and the taste, they have such little to no nutritional value that they can hardly be called food. They are rich in calories, fat and sugar that lead to various kinds of health conditions. Popular junk foods include gums, sweets, carbonated drinks, desserts, dried foods; you probably love them now but after knowing their effects on your health you might want to eliminate them from your diet. Here are some of the conditions which can be caused by consumption of excessive fast food:

Heart diseases: Fast food contains high amounts of trans or saturated fats that can clog your arteries and lead to high level of cholesterol later in life. People who have junk food more than four times a week increase their risk of dying by 80%.

Obesity: Adolescents who have poor eating habits are at high risk of being obese. Gaining a lot of weight beyond a recommended proportion can cause many health problems. Junk foods have sugar and calories that lead to weight gain. It has also been noticed that people who are prone to eating more fast foods are less likely to consume fruits and vegetables and this further weakens their immune system.

Peptic Ulcer: Peptic ulcer is a disease that occurs in the gastrointestinal tract; it is acidic in nature and causes extreme stomach ache. Spicy oily and salted food combined with stress and alcohol can lead to this condition.

Diabetes: Busy work schedule prevents many people from cooking at home and they take resort in fast food but it is advisable not to let work get in the way of your health. Consuming regular fast food coupled with poor lifestyle and lack of exercise lead to obesity which in turn cause Type 2 diabetes.

Cut down on junk foods and incorporate fruits and vegetables and also make time to include a daily exercise routine to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
