Eating disorders are not uncommon in the modern world today. They could stem from a lot of issues without us even realising it.

According to a new study done by Florida State University, eating disorder in women could result from dissatisfaction with life or inferiority complex, where they think that their husbands are more attractive than them.

The research showed that wives who crash-diet to slim down are often driven to do so because they felt that their husbands are better looking than them.

The finding indicated that women's risk of developing more extreme weight loss behaviours is linked to other forms of psychological distress - depression, anxiety, substance abuse and dissatisfaction with life.

They also found that men were rarely motivated to do the same, regardless of how attractive they considered their wives to be.

Lead author Tania Reynolds said that if they understand how women's relationships affect their decision to diet and the social predictors for developing unhealthy eating behaviours, then they will be better able to help them.

"One way to help these women is for partners to be very reaffirming, reminding them that they are beautiful and loved at any weight or body type," Reynolds added.

The researchers explained that understanding the predictors that increase a woman's risk of developing eating disorders and other health problems could lead to earlier assistance.

The team examined 113 newlywed couples - married less than four months with average age of late 20s and living in the Dallas area - who agreed to be rated on their attractiveness. Each participant completed a lengthy questionnaire focusing in part on their desire to diet or have a thin body.

It's not really pleasant to talk about diarrhea or more commonly known as loose motions, but each one of us has been in this uncomfortable situation at least a few times in our lives.

Bacterial and viral infections are the most common causes of diarrhea which is primarily characterized by loose stools. You may get infected mostly through what you eat or drink & therefore, it is extremely important to be cautious while eating out.

However, if you end up contracting food poisoning or any other infection, you may have to run to the restroom a little too often till your body fights off the infection completely.

Some foods that you may want to avoid if you're suffering from loose motions:

1. Dairy products: You must avoid foods like milk, cheese or butter as they contain sugar in the form of lactose and it may worsen your symptoms.

2. Excessively sweet foods: Binging on sugary foods is often linked with excess gas, cramping, watery stool and abdominal pain. Fructose in fruits and refined sugar used in baked items, processed food and your daily cup of tea of coffee, can draw water into the large intestine or prevent it from absorbing the water leading to more loose motions.

3. Fatty foods: Fried or greasy foods or those that are loaded with cream and other fats should be strictly avoided. Fatty foods are known to increase intestinal contractions and create reactions in the system which is already very sensitive.

4. Fruit juices: While is it advisable to take in lots of water to replenish the fluids lost from the body during your frequent trips to the restroom and avoid dehydration, fruits juices are not recommended. These juices may contain sugar in its concentrated form and too much sugar is not good for you sensitive bowel system.

5. Certain vegetables: Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, beans, onions and cauliflower should be avoided as they tend to cause gas in the stomach while digestion and since your system is comprised it may aggravate the symptoms.

Holi hangover is the worst to handle, especially after a long weekend. The dreadful festive fever can get to the best of us and make us indulge in foods and drinks we may not otherwise. Some common symptoms of a typical Holi hangover are nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Rather than locking yourself in a room or killing your heart and avoiding festive specialties, here are a few tricks which can help you avoid a classic Holi hangover:

ALL HAIL LORD WATER: Yes, do not underestimate the power of this common drink. Loading yourself with water before and during the celebration time will help you in preventing that oh-so-nauseous hangover the morning after.

BLACK+WHITE IS NOT GREY: Don’t mix your drinks with too many liquids. Avoid mixing vodka with rum and whiskey with gin. If you do so, not only will you ruin the taste of these individual drinks, but your body will lose appetite and your head will remain heavy for at least 3 days!

GULP DOWN: Now is the time to gulp down all that yummy Holi breakfast prepared at home. Staying empty stomach will lead to adverse effects of bhang and alcohol. Food will help you stay active and not reach the state of uneasiness.

SLEEP, LITTLE BABY: Do not be sleep deprived. Make the most of this long weekend you’re getting. Being sleep deprived will only worsen the matter and leave you feeling fatigued and dizzy during the week that follows.

LET SMOKE NOT BE YOUR BUDDY: Avoid smoking while consuming alcohol as this will only increase the severity of your hangover. Consuming bhang, alcohol, and smoke can be a deadly combination which can prove its poison in the morning after.

SAY BYE TO CHAI: For this one day, restrict yourself from having too much caffeine as this can worsen the effect of nausea. Too many liquids will only lead to a stomach-attack.
