Self-defense, The Karate Kid style
#Womens Wellness Exam

Mr Miyagi had it right. The way to building muscle memory and training is through repetitive movements in daily activities and chores. So doing the laundry can make you feel secure in more ways than one. Here’s a list of handy tips for you to use. Stand strong, and clean up too!

Dusting strikes
Tape a dusting glove to your hand, or one of those long brushes. And strike at the dust, much like you would strike at opponent’s eyes or throat. Use small amounts of force at first, increasing the tension in your hand as you go along.

Deflect with a broom
The side to side movement of a broom can build forearm strength and give you the opportunity to practice deflecting punches. Sweep dust as hard as possible, with both left and right arms.

Shower defense
Slice the water heading towards you – and practice both striking and deflection in the shower. Give yourself the aim of having to disrupt the flow of water as much as possible.

Squat to clean up
Putting away clothes, toys and other things? Practise dropping down in a squat each time and you’ll build those leg muscles. Remember to keep your feet shoulder-width apart and squat straight down without bending your back.
